Safe Transitional Housing Program

At Samaritan House, our transitional housing program is designed specifically for women who have experienced intimate partner violence, abuse, or gender-based violence. Unlike traditional shelters, we offer long-term, supportive housing for up to 18 months. This extended stay allows us to build meaningful relationships and provide 1-on-1, personalized programming that meets each woman exactly where she’s at.

Our clients work closely with our dedicated Housing and Program Coordinator, who supports them every step of the way—helping them set goals, navigate challenges, and access resources tailored to their unique situation. Our programming is never one-size-fits-all. Each woman comes to us with different experiences and needs, so we adapt our support accordingly. Some of the many topics we explore include types of abuse, recognizing red flags, setting healthy boundaries, rebuilding self-esteem, and developing safe, healthy relationships.

Our homes are intentionally located in residential neighbourhoods throughout Barrie—not in large institutional buildings—ensuring privacy, safety, and a chance to adapt to everyday living in a secure and comforting environment. Because space is limited, we carefully select clients who are ready to fully engage in our programming.

We are not driven by numbers. We’re here to walk alongside survivors, offering them a safe place to heal, grow, and prepare for a successful, independent future.
